A Look to the Future

A new year is here and I’m certainly ready for a reset.

I started 2023 with such high ambitions for myself in terms of content, but with the disarray of social media platforms across the board combined with the rapidly increasing cost of living, I ended the year with much different goals than I started.

After taking a week off when I started my new freelance job in June, it was difficult to get back in the swing of things. I finally had time to reflect and check-in with myself, realizing that I wasn’t really happy with the content I was making, but feeling too burnt out to even think about a new direction. Followed quickly by a move and then a burglary, the much-needed recovery and recouping kept getting postponed.

For me, streaming has always been about the community and creating a genuinely positive and uplifting space on the internet. However, it has become very apparent that streaming isn’t the best way for me to accomplish that. It’s felt like an uphill battle at times. When many of the best creators remain small or barely able to pay their bills, many of the largest are stealing content, exploiting parasocial relationships, rage-baiting, and scamming their fans.

(Obviously, this isn’t ALL of them but I know there are at least 10 big names I could list off the cuff who are guilty of these things.)

I get discouraged thinking about it, but I’m done playing the victim. I’ve reached a point where I don’t care about that follower number, I just want to create content that helps people feel & be better. I want to foster our active and vibrant community. That’s why I started in the first place.

I love gaming and spending time with the Spicy Squad live, but I’m recalibrating my content. Before the panini hit I was much more of a fashion girlie, but casual gamer Cierra became the go-to through lockdown after I got injured and gained some weight. As somebody on the bold-side, I want to get over my insecurities and show up for the people who don’t feel represented or deal with their own struggles. I want to help people grow their confidence and self-love through personal style and self-expression.

I still plan on streaming and gaming on Twitch, but VODs and clips are going on a separate CierraGames YouTube channel so I can focus more on just general life, style, and wellness as the content on my main YouTube channel, Instagram, TikTok, and blog here. I truly just want to make content that benefits people outside of pure escapism, and I hope that you’ll stay along for the journey. 🖤

There’s always more that could be added, but we’ll save that for another time. ~

xoxo Cierra
